My First Blog

Hello! My name is Marilyn and some of you may already know me as your crazy English teacher.  I decided to make a blog and share my crazy ideas and questions during these insane times.  The quarantine has changed our entire life and it seems as if it has all gone upside down.  However, we can always manage ways to use our time to create new ways of living and share ideas to inspire hope, happiness, and curiosity.  For me this is a space for ideas to flow...questions to be asked...and sharing feelings openly.  I invite you to embark on this journey to discover new things with me and that we may share a delightful moments where lightbulbs illuminate in our minds and our hearts.

Thank you for beiing so kind, gentle and loving with me and all of my student partners, I'm sure they think that about you, as well. Hugs and kisses.

To My Dearest Students: I would like to give a special thanks to all the students who have actively participated in my blog.  I am so proud of you, and your efforts, especially-- in this moment in time.  It makes me happy to know that you have enjoyed my posts, as much as I have enjoyed making them for you.  I am throughly grateful to have been part of your learning experience, and to have brought you a bit of joy during these troubled times.  I hope to continue to see your participation throughout my future blog posts from here onwards.  I will be sporadically writing throughout the summer months, so stay tuned for more fun learning experiences.   I love you and hopefully, I will see you back in October when classes start again.  Have a Safe and Happy Summer Everyone!  Many kisses and hugs,  Marilyn  Xoxoxxoxoxoxoxoxox A Special Thanks to: Mariana   Celia Ja...

Dream a little dream with me...

Today is yet another grey day. It seems harder to cope with being indoors if the sun isn't shining. Does anyone else feel the same way? I think a daily dose of sunshine is healthy and uplifting. So tell me do you like sunbathing? I'm a big beach fan. So let's daydream a little shall we? I'd like you to imagine a beautiful sunny place you'd go to, if you had a chance. Perhaps, it would be Greece, Hawaii, Cuba, or Rome.. Wherever it is I'd like you to draw it out. Go online and find a specific place in your dream country where you would go if you could. It has to be outside of your country.  Once you've decided the country and the place you'll need to tell me all about it. Where you'd stay whether it be a B&B, hotel, rental house etc and where you would eat. State specific restaurants and food trucks if any... and what you'd do there. As if you were planning your very own vacation where you'd do anything you want to do. You can se...

A Pool of Seawater

Era un suspiro lánguido y sonoro la voz del mar aquella tarde-Manuel Machado The ocean is such a great extension of mystery.  We know more about the sky and the stars than the depths of the ocean and its hidden treasures.  Water is always present in everything. Our fondest memories are always involved one way or another with water.  Just try and remember a good vacation, chances are it was at a river, lake, or an ocean.  You probably recall the comforting swim, a nice meal, and laughter with friends.  Here in Galicia, we are forged in salt water.  It is our daily life, our inspiration, and our sustenance for living. We can't live without it.  There have been countless poems and books dedicated to the sea, especially here in Galicia.     Today, we are going to talk about the very magnificent body of water which is the ocean which takes up around 70% of the surface on our planet. They don't call us the blue planet fo...
